Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE SUSPECT POWER WINDOW OPERATION FROM LH FRONT CONTROL SWITCH
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Attempt to operate the suspect window from the LH front window control switch.

    Does the window operate when using the LH front window control switch? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: GO to  3.
  2. CHECK THE LH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH LOCK-OUT/VOLTAGE FEED CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: Suspect RH Front Window Control Switch C604, Rear Window Control Switch C701 (LH) or C801 (RH).
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. NOTE: Make sure the LH window control switch lockout switch is in the UNLOCK position.

      For an inoperative rear window, measure:

      Suspect Rear Window Control Switch Ground

    5. For an inoperative RH front window, measure:

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

    • Yes: INSTALL a new window control switch. REFER to Window Control Switch .
    • No: For an inoperative RH front window, GO to  10.

      For an inoperative rear window, REPAIR the circuit.

  3. CHECK THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: Suspect RH Front Window Control Switch C604, Rear Window Control Switch C701 (LH) or C801 (RH).
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. For an inoperative rear window, measure:
      Suspect Window Control Switch Ground

    5. For an inoperative RH front window, measure:

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit.
  4. CHECK THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Measure:
      Suspect Rear Window Control Switch Ground

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    • Yes: GO to .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit.
  5. CHECK THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH FOR VOLTAGE SIGNAL FROM THE LH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. For LH rear window, while pressing and releasing the LH front window control switch, measure:
      LH Rear Window Control Switch Ground

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the LH front window control switch is pressed; and 0 volt when the switch is released? 

    • Yes: For an inoperative rear window, GO to  8.

      For an inoperative RH front window, GO to  11.

    • No: If voltage was less than 11 volts when the switch was pressed, GO to .

      If voltage was greater than 0 volt when the switch was released, GO to  7.

  6. CHECK FOR AN OPEN BETWEEN THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH AND THE LH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: LH Front Window Control Switch C535A.
    3. For LH rear window, measure:
      LH Rear Window Control Switch LH Front Window Control Switch

    • Yes: INSTALL a new LH front window control switch. REFER to Window Control Switch .
    • No: REPAIR the affected circuit.
  7. CHECK THE LH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: LH Front Window Control Switch C535A.
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. For LH rear window, measure:

    Is any voltage present? 

    • Yes: REPAIR the affected circuit.
    • No: INSTALL a new LH front window control switch. REFER to Window Control Switch .
  8. CHECK THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH OPERATION
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. To check upward window operation, connect fused jumper wires:

  9. CHECK FOR AN OPEN CIRCUIT BETWEEN THE SUSPECT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH AND WINDOW MOTOR
    1. Disconnect: Suspect Rear Window Motor C703 (LH) or C803 (RH).
    2. Measure

  10. CHECK THE FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH VOLTAGE FEED CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: LH Front Window Control Switch C535A.
    3. Measure:
      RH Front Window Control Switch LH Front Window Control Switch

    Is the resistances less than 3 ohms? 

    • Yes: INSTALL a new LH front window control switch. REFER to Window Control Switch .
    • No: REPAIR the circuit.
  11. CHECK THE RH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH OPERATION
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. To check upward window operation, connect fused jumper wires:

  12. CHECK FOR AN OPEN CIRCUIT BETWEEN THE RH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH AND WINDOW MOTOR
    1. Disconnect: RH Front Window Motor C608.
    2. Measure
