Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE POWER WINDOW OPERATION
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Verify the power windows operate.

    Do the power windows operate? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE G : The Delayed Accessory is Inoperative, or REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE K : All Power Windows Are Inoperative - Base.
  2. CHECK THE FRONT SLIDING GLASS PANEL MOTOR FOR INITIALIZATION
    1. Carry out the front sliding glass panel motor initialization procedure. REFER to Roof Opening Panel Motor Initialization - Sliding Glass Panel .

    Is the concern still present? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: The system is operating normally at this time. The front sliding glass panel motor was not initialized.
  3. CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL CONTROL SWITCH
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: Roof Opening Panel Control Switch.
    3. Carry out the Roof Opening Panel Control Switch Component Test.

      Refer to ROOF OPENING PANEL CONTROL SWITCH - COMPONENT TESTING for schematic and connector information.

    Is the roof opening panel switch OK? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: INSTALL a new roof opening panel switch. REFER to Roof Opening Panel Control Switch .
  4. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE FRONT SLIDING GLASS PANEL MODULE
    1. Disconnect Roof Opening Panel Module electrical connector.
    2. Ignition ON.
    3. Measure:
      Roof Opening Panel Module Ground

    Are the voltages greater than 11 volts? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: VERIFY BJB fuse 8 (20A) and BCM fuse 38 (10A) are OK. If OK, REPAIR the affected circuit(s).

      If not OK, REFER to the appropriate OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS to identify the possible causes of the circuit short.

  5. CHECK THE FRONT SLIDING GLASS PANEL MODULE GROUND
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Measure:
      Roof Opening Panel Module Ground

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REPAIR the circuit.
  6. CHECK THE SLIDING GLASS CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
    1. Measure:

    Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? 

    1. Yes: CHECK the overhead console jumper harness for loose pins or an open in the affected circuit(s) between the roof opening panel switch socket and overhead console C921.

      If the overhead console jumper harness is not OK, INSTALL a new overhead console jumper harness.

      If the overhead console jumper harness is OK, GO to .

    2. No: REPAIR the affected circuit(s).
  7. CHECK THE SLIDING GLASS CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Measure:
      Roof Opening Panel Module Ground

    Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    1. Yes: CHECK the overhead console jumper harness for loose pins or an open in the affected circuit(s) between the roof opening panel switch socket and overhead console C921.

      If the overhead console jumper harness is not OK, INSTALL a new overhead console jumper harness.

      If the overhead console jumper harness is OK, GO to .

    2. No: REPAIR the affected circuit(s).
  8. CHECK THE ROOF OPENING PANEL MODULE FOR CORRECT OPERATION
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect and inspect the roof opening panel module connector.
    3. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminal - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    4. Reconnect the roof opening panel module connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
    5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    1. Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new front sliding glass panel module. REFER to Roof Opening Panel Motor - Sliding Front Panel .
    2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
