Pinpoint Test

NOTE: When taking measurements at DCSM harness connectors, do not insert the electrical probes into the female connector pins. Inserting the probes into connector pins can cause intermittent or open electrical connections after reassembly resulting in DTCs  and system failure. Touching the tip of these connector pins is recommended instead.
  1. CHECK THE BLOWER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
    1. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.

      Ignition OFF.

    2. Disconnect: Passenger Seat Side Air Bag C339.
    3. Disconnect: DCSM C3265C.
    4. Disconnect: Passenger Cushion TED C3040.
    5. Disconnect: Passenger Backrest TED C3039.
    6. Measure:

Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REPAIR the affected circuit. GO to  5  .
  2. CHECK FOR A SHORT BETWEEN THE TED BLOWER CIRCUITS
    1. Measure:

Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REPAIR the circuits. GO to  5  .
  3. CHECK THE BACKREST BLOWER AND CUSHION BLOWER RESISTANCES
    1. NOTE: The ohmmeter must be connected with the positive lead to pin 2 and the negative lead to pin 4 when measuring. Ohmmeter leads incorrectly connected can result in false readings and lead to incorrect identification of components that are not damaged.

Are the resistances between 4, 000 ohms and 10, 000 ohms?

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: If the resistance of the cushion TED was not between 4, 000 ohms and 10, 000 ohms, INSTALL a new seat cushion TED. REFER to Seat Cushion Thermo-Electric Device (TED) . GO to  5.

If the resistance of the backrest TED was not between 4, 000 ohms and 10, 000 ohms, INSTALL a new seat backrest TED. REFER to Seat Backrest Thermo-Electric Device (TED) . GO to  5.

  4. CHECK FOR CORRECT DCSM OPERATION
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect and inspect all DCSM connectors.
    3. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins as necessary
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    4. Reconnect the DCSM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    5. Connect: Passenger Cushion TED C3040.
    6. Connect: Passenger Backrest TED C3039.
    7. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?

    1. Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new DCSM. REFER to Dual Climate Controlled Seat Module (DCSM) . GO to .
    2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. GO to .
  5. CHECK FOR SRS DTCs
    1. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.

      Ignition OFF.

    2. Connect: Passenger Seat Side Air Bag C339.
    3. Connect: DCSM C3265C (if previously disconnected).
    4. Connect: Passenger Cushion TED C3040 (if previously disconnected).
    5. Connect: Passenger Backrest TED C3039 (if previously disconnected).
    6. Ignition ON.
    7. Using a scan tool, clear the RCM DTCs  .
    8. Cycle the ignition OFF then ON.
    9. Using a scan tool, perform RCM self-test.

Are any RCM DTCs retrieved during self-test?

    1. Yes: REFER to DTC CHART: RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE (RCM) for pinpoint test direction.
    2. No: The repair is complete. RETURN the vehicle to the customer.
