Pinpoint Test
- CHECK THE PCM TR PID STATES
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, view PCM PID TR.
- Operate the transmission gear selector in all positions while monitoring the PCM PID TR states.
Do the PID states agree with the selected positions?
- Yes: GO to 2 .
- No: To diagnose a transmission gear selector (PRNDL) status concern, REFER to DTC AND SYMPTOM CHART(S)DTC CHART and SYMPTOM CHART - Automatic Transmission - 6F50 and 6F55.
- CHECK THE DSM IGNITION SWITCH STATUS (IGN_SW) PID STATES
- Using a scan tool, view DSM PID IGN_SW.
- Cycle the ignition in all positions while monitoring the DSM IGN_SW PID states.
Do the PID states agree with the selected positions?
- Yes: GO to 3 .
- No: For vehicles equipped with an ignition lock cylinder and key, REFER to INSTRUMENTATION, MESSAGE CENTER, AND WARNING CHIMES . For vehicles equipped with passive entry/passive start, REFER to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES .
- RETRIEVE DSM DTCs
- Operate the memory seat and memory mirrors in all directions through the full range of travel.
- Place the memory seat and memory mirrors in central travel positions.
- Using a scan tool, perform DSM self-test.
Are any DSM DTCs retrieved?
- Yes: If DTCs
B1663, B1664, B1665 and B1666 are all retrieved, GO to 12
.
If DTC B1663, GO to 22 .
If DTC B1664, GO to 25 .
If DTC B1665, GO to 28 .
If DTC B1666, GO to 31 .
If only DTC B1703, B1707, B1711, B1715, B1719, B1723, B1727 or B1731 are retrieved, GO to 5 .
For any other DSM DTCs , REFER to DTC Chart: Driver Seat Module (DSM) .
- No: GO to 4 .
- MONITOR THE DSM PIDs
AND CHECK FOR CORRECT MEMORY SEAT SWITCH INPUTS
- Using a scan tool, view DSM PIDs
.
- Driver Power Seat Front Up/Down Switch (SFNT_SW)
- Driver Power Seat Forward/Backward Switch (SFWD_SW)
- Driver Power Seat Recline Switch Status (SRCL_SW)
- Driver Power Seat Rear Up/Down Switch (SREARSW)
- Monitor DSM seat switch PIDs while activating the seat switch in all positions.
Do the PID states agree with the switch positions?
- Yes: GO to 11 .
- No: GO to 5 .
- Using a scan tool, view DSM PIDs
.
- CHECK THE SEAT CONTROL SWITCH

Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Driver Seat Side Air Bag C3051.
- Disconnect: Seat Control Switch C369.
- Carry out the seat control switch component test.
Refer to OEM Wiring Diagrams - COMPONENT TESTING .
Did the seat control switch pass the seat control switch component test?
- Yes: GO to 6 .
- No: INSTALL a new seat control switch. REFER to Seat Control Switch . CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35.

- CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE SEAT CONTROL SWITCH
- Measure:
Seat Control Switch Ground C369 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 5 CBX04 (WH/RD) - Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
- Yes: GO to 7 .
- No: VERIFY BCM fuse 19 (20A) is OK, If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the appropriate wiring diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. REFER to OEM FUSE AND RELAY INFORMATION and OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS . CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35.

- CHECK THE SEAT CONTROL SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Measure:
Seat Control Switch Ground C369 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 3 GD904 (BK/BU) - Ground
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 8 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35 .
- Measure:
- CHECK SEAT CONTROL SWITCH TO DSM CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: DSM C341B.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:

Is any voltage present?
- Yes: REPAIR the affected circuit. CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35 .
- No: GO to 9 .
- CHECK SEAT CONTROL SWITCH TO DSM CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:

- Yes: GO to 10 .
- No: REPAIR the affected circuit. CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35 .
- CHECK THE SEAT CONTROL SWITCH TO DSM CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: DSM C341B.
- Measure:

- CHECK THE DSM FOR CORRECT OUTPUTS USING A SCAN TOOL AND DSM ACTIVE COMMANDS
- Using a scan tool, view DSM PIDs

- Front Motor Up (FRONT_UP)
- Front Motor Down (FRONT_DWN)
- Rear Motor Up (REAR_UP)
- Rear Motor Down (REAR_DWN)
- Horizontal Motor Forward (HORZ_FWD)
- Horizontal Motor Backward (HORZ_BWD)
- Recline Motor Forward (RECL_FWD)
- Recline Motor Backward (RECL_BWD)
- Toggle the DSM active commands ON and OFF while monitoring the seat movement.
Does the driver seat operate correctly?
- Using a scan tool, view DSM PIDs
.
- CHECK VOLTAGE SUPPLY TO THE DSM

- Disconnect: Driver Seat Side Air Bag C3051.
- Disconnect: DSM C341A.
- Measure:
DSM Ground C341A Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CBX05 (VT/RD) - Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
- Yes: GO to 13 .
- No: VERIFY BJB fuse 23 (30A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. If not OK, REFER to the appropriate wiring diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. REFER to OEM FUSE AND RELAY INFORMATION and OEM WIRING DIAGRAMS . CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35.

- CHECK THE DSM GROUND CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: DSM C341B.
- Measure:

Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 14 .
- No: REPAIR the affected circuit. CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35 .
- CHECK SEAT FRONT HEIGHT MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure:
DSM Ground C341B Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 23 CPS03 (VT/GY) - Ground 11 CPS02 (GY/YE) - Ground
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 16 .
- No: GO to 15 .
- Measure:
- CHECK SEAT FRONT HEIGHT MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND WITH THE MOTOR DISCONNECTED
- Disconnect: Driver Seat Front Height Motor C382.
- Measure:
DSM Ground C341B Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 23 CPS03 (VT/GY) - Ground 11 CPS02 (GY/YE) - Ground
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: INSTALL a new seat track assembly. REFER to Seat Track . CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35.
- No: REPAIR the affected circuit. CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35.
- CHECK THE SEAT REAR HEIGHT MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure:
DSM Ground C341B Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 22 CPS05 (BU/WH) - Ground 10 CPS04 (YE/OG) - Ground
Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 18 .
- No: GO to 17 .
- Measure:
- CHECK THE SEAT REAR HEIGHT MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND WITH THE MOTOR DISCONNECTED
- Disconnect: Driver Seat Rear Height Motor C363.
- Measure:

Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: INSTALL a new seat track assembly. REFER to Seat Track . CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35.
- No: REPAIR the affected circuit. CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35.
- CHECK THE SEAT HORIZONTAL MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

- CHECK THE DRIVER POWER SEAT RECLINER MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

- Yes: INSTALL a new seat recliner motor. REFER to Seat Recliner Motor . CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35.
- No: REPAIR the affected circuit. CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35.
- CHECK THE SEAT FRONT HEIGHT MOTOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION

- No: GO to 23 .

- No: GO to 26 .

Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- CHECK THE HORIZONTAL MOTOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the seat control switch is operated and 0 volt in the rest position?
- Yes: INSTALL a new seat track assembly. REFER to Seat Track . CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35.
- No: GO to 29 .

- CHECK THE HORIZONTAL MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: DSM C341B.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:

Is any voltage present on either circuit?
- Yes: REPAIR the affected circuit. CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35 .
- No: GO to 30 .
- CHECK THE HORIZONTAL MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:
DSM Driver Seat Horizontal Motor C341B C362 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 9 CPS06 (GN/WH) 2 CPS06 (GN/WH) 12 CPS01 (GN/BU) 1 CPS01 (GN/BU)
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- CHECK THE DRIVER SEAT RECLINER MOTOR FOR CORRECT OPERATION

- While toggling DSM active commands recline motor forward and recline motor backward on and off, measure:
Driver Seat Recliner Motor Driver Seat Recliner Motor C3187 C3187 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CPS07 (GY/BN) 3 CPS08 (VT/OG)
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when command on in both directions and no voltage present when commanded off?
- Yes: INSTALL a new seat recliner motor. REFER to Seat Recliner Motor . CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35.
- No: GO to 32 .

- CHECK THE DRIVER SEAT RECLINER MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Disconnect: DSM C341B.
- Measure:
DSM Ground C341B Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 13 CPS07 (GY/BN) - Ground 21 CPS08 (VT/OG) - Ground
Is any voltage present on either circuit?
- Yes: REPAIR the affected circuit. CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35 .
- No: GO to 33 .
- CHECK THE DRIVER SEAT RECLINER MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:
DSM Driver Seat Recliner Motor C341B C3187 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 13 CPS07 (GY/BN) 1 CPS07 (GY/BN) 21 CPS08 (VT/OG) 3 CPS08 (VT/OG)
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 34 .
- No: REPAIR the affected circuit. CLEAR the DTCs . GO to 35 .
- CHECK FOR CORRECT DSM OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all DSM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins as necessary
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the DSM connectors and all previously disconnected rear window defrost system connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
- Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new DSM. REFER to Driver Seat Module (DSM) . GO to 35 .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. GO to 35 .
- CHECK FOR SRS DTCs

Ignition OFF.
- Connect: Driver Seat Side Air Bag C3051.
- Connect: All previously disconnected electrical connectors.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, clear the RCM DTCs .
- Cycle the ignition OFF then ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform RCM self-test.
Are any RCM DTCs retrieved during self-test?
- Yes: REFER to DTC CHART: RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE (RCM) for pinpoint test direction.
- No: The repair is complete. RETURN the vehicle to the customer.
