Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE POWER LUMBAR MOTOR
    1. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.

      Ignition OFF.

    2. Disconnect: Passenger Seat Side Air Bag C339.
    3. Disconnect: Power Lumbar Motor C3216.
    4. NOTE: During the following step, the voltage being measured changes polarity dependent upon which direction the seat control switch is activated.

      While operating the seat control switch in both directions, measure:

    Is the voltage greater than 11 volts when the seat control switch is operated and 0 volt in the rest position? 

    1. Yes: INSTALL a new power lumbar assembly. REFER to Lumbar Assembly - Power . GO to  4.
    2. No: GO to 2  .
  2. CHECK THE POWER LUMBAR MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. Disconnect: Passenger Seat Control Switch C330.
    2. Measure:
      Passenger Seat Control Switch Ground

      Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      10 CPS20 (VT)

      		 - Ground
      7 CPS21 (WH/OG)
      G08038705
      		 - Ground

    Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms? 

    1. Yes: GO to 3 
    2. No: REPAIR the affected circuit. GO to  4  .
  3. CHECK THE POWER LUMBAR MOTOR CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
    1. Measure:
      Passenger Seat Control Switch Power Lumbar Motor

      C330 C3216
      Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      10 CPS20 (VT)
      G08038708
      		 B CPS18 (BN/GN)
      7 CPS21 (WH/OG)
      G08038709
      		 A CPS19 (GY/VT)

    Are the resistances less than 3 ohms? 

    1. Yes: INSTALL a new seat control switch. REFER to Seat Control Switch . GO to 4  .
    2. No: REPAIR the affected circuit. GO to 4  .
  4. CHECK FOR SRS DTCs 
    1. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.

      Ignition OFF.

    2. Connect: Passenger Seat Side Air Bag C339.
    3. Connect: All previously disconnected electrical connectors.
    4. Ignition ON.
    5. Using a scan tool, clear the RCM DTCs  .
    6. Cycle the ignition OFF then ON.
    7. Using a scan tool, perform RCM self-test.

    Are any RCM DTCs retrieved during self-test? 

    1. Yes: REFER to DTC CHART: RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE (RCM) for pinpoint test direction.
    2. No: The repair is complete. RETURN the vehicle to the customer.
