Pinpoint Test

1. Ignition ON.
2. Verify that there is an observable symptom present.

Is an observable symptom present? 

1. Yes: GO to 2  .
2. No: The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition. CLEAR all CMDTCs  .

1. Using a scan tool, perform the network test.

Does the BCM pass the network test? 

1. Yes: GO to 3  .
2. No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE I : The Body Control Module (BCM) Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.

1. Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory DTCs  from the BCM.

Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded? 

1. Yes: For DTC U3003:16, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE H : DTC U3003:16.

   For DTC U3003:17, REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE I : DTC U3003:17.

2. No: GO to 4  .

1. NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during PMI or the PMI may not have been carried out.

   Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs  . Repeat the DSM self-test.

Is DTC U0140 still present? 

1. Yes: GO to 5  .
2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

1. Using a scan tool, clear all DTCs  .
2. Ignition OFF.
3. Ignition ON.
4. Wait 10 seconds.
5. Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory DTCs  from all modules.

Is DTC U0140:87 or DTC U0140 set in any other modules? 

1. Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new BCM:

   REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) , or

   REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .

2. No: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new DSM. REFER to Driver Seat Module (DSM) .
