Pinpoint Test

NOTE: When taking measurements at DCSM harness connectors, do not insert the electrical probes into the female connector pins. Inserting the probes into connector pins can cause intermittent or open electrical connections after reassembly resulting in DTCs  and system failure. Touching the tip of these connector pins is recommended instead.
  1. CHECK THE DRIVER CUSHION TED BLOWER SPEED CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    1. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.

      Ignition OFF.

    2. Disconnect: Driver Seat Side Air Bag C3051.
    3. Disconnect: Passenger Seat Side Air Bag C339.
    4. Disconnect: DCSM C3265C.
    5. Disconnect: Driver Cushion TED C3035.
    6. Measure:
      DCSM Ground
      G08039201
      G08039200
      C3265C Ground
Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit
      11 VHS18 (BN/GN)
      G08039202
      - Ground

Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REPAIR the circuit. GO to  5  .
  2. CHECK THE DRIVER CUSHION TED BLOWER SPEED CONTROL CIRCUIT AND BLOWER GROUND CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TOGETHER
    1. Measure:
      DCSM DCSM
      G08039203
      G08039204
      C3265C C3265C

      11 VHS18 (BN/GN)
      G08039205
      15 RHS03 (GY/OG)

Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REPAIR the circuits. GO to  5  .
  3. DETERMINE CUSHION TED OR DCSM FAILURE
    1. Remove the cushion TED from the driver seat. REFER to Seat Cushion Thermo-Electric Device (TED) .
    2. Remove the cushion TED from the passenger seat and install it on the driver seat.
    3. Connect: Driver Cushion TED C3035.
    4. Connect: DCSM C3265C.
    5. Start the engine and check operation of the driver seat climate controlled seat system.

Does the seat operate with the TED from the other seat installed?

    1. Yes: INSTALL a new seat cushion TED. REFER to Seat Cushion Thermo-Electric Device (TED) . GO to  5  .
    2. No: GO to .
  4. CHECK FOR CORRECT DCSM OPERATION
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect and inspect all DCSM connectors.
    3. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins as necessary
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    4. Reconnect the DCSM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
    5. Connect: Driver Seat Cushion TED C3035.
    6. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present?

    1. Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new DCSM. REFER to Dual Climate Controlled Seat Module (DCSM) . GO to .
    2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues. GO to .
  5. CHECK FOR SRS DTCs
    1. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.

      Ignition OFF.

    2. Connect: Driver Seat Side Air Bag C3051.
    3. Connect: Passenger Seat Side Air Bag C339.
    4. Connect: DCSM C3265C (if previously disconnected).
    5. Connect: Driver Seat Cushion TED C3035 (if previously disconnected).
    6. Ignition ON.
    7. Using a scan tool, clear the RCM DTCs  .
    8. Cycle the ignition OFF then ON.
    9. Using a scan tool, perform RCM self-test.

Are any RCM DTCs retrieved during self-test?

    1. Yes: REFER to DTC CHART: RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE (RCM) for pinpoint test direction.
    2. No: The repair is complete. RETURN the vehicle to the customer.
