Pinpoint Test
- CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE DETENT AND FORKBOLT SWITCHES
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LTM C4174B.
- Place the liftgate in the fully unlatched position. REFER to LIFTGATE LATCH MANUAL RELEASE .
- Measure:
LTM Ground C4174B Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 16 CPR66 (GY/BU) - Ground 18 CPR64 (VT/OG) - Ground 17 CPR65 (BU/GN) - Ground - Record the test results.
- Place the liftgate in the primary latch position.
- Measure:
LTM Ground C4174B Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 16 CPR66 (GY/BU) - Ground 18 CPR64 (VT/OG) - Ground 17 CPR65 (BU/GN) - Ground -
NOTE: If the detent switch resistance measured is less than 5 ohms in the fully unlatched position, manually rotate the forkbolt to the latched position while measuring the resistance.
Record the test results.
- Compare the results with the table below.

Do the resistance values agree with the table?
- Yes: GO to 5.
- No: GO to 2 .
- CHECK THE DETENT AND FORKBOLT SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT
- Disconnect: Power Liftgate Latch.
- Measure:
Power Liftgate Latch Ground C4339 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 8 GD349 (BK/GY) - Ground
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 3 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit for an open.
- CHECK THE DETENT AND FORKBOLT SWITCH CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure:
LTM Ground C4174B Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 18 CPR64 (VT/OG) - Ground 17 CPR65 (BU/GN) - Ground 16 CPR66 (GY/BU) - Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 4 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit in question.
- Measure:
- CHECK THE DETENT AND FORKBOLT SWITCH CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Measure:
Power Liftgate Latch LTM C4339 C4172B Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CPR64 (VT/OG) 18 CPR64 (VT/OG) 3 CPR65 (BU/GN) 17 CPR65 (BU/GN) 2 CPR66 (GY/YE) 16 CPR66 (GY/BU)
Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: INSTALL a new power liftgate latch. REFER to LIFTGATE LATCH .
- No: REPAIR the circuit in question.
- Measure:
- CHECK FOR CORRECT LTM OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all LTM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect all the LTM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
- Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new LTM. REFER to Liftgate/Trunk Module (LTM) .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
