Pinpoint Test
- DETERMINE THE INOPERATIVE STOPLAMP
- Ignition OFF.
- Apply the brake pedal and observe the stoplamps.
Are all the stoplamps inoperative?
- Yes: REFER to Diagnostic Routine M: All The Stoplamps Are Inoperative .
- No: For the high mounted stoplamp, GO to 2
.
For a rear stoplamp, GO to 4.
- CHECK THE HIGH MOUNTED STOPLAMP VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: High Mounted Stoplamp.
- While applying the brake pedal, measure:
High Mounted Stoplamp Ground C475 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CLS52 (BN) - Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
- Yes: GO to 3 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- CHECK THE HIGH MOUNTED STOPLAMP GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- While applying the brake pedal, measure:
High Mounted Stoplamp High Mounted Stoplamp C475 C475 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 CLS52 (BN) 2 GD349 (BK/GY)
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
- Yes: INSTALL a new high mounted stoplamp. REFER to High Mounted Stoplamp .
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- While applying the brake pedal, measure:
- CHECK THE REAR LAMP VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: Inoperative Rear Lamp.
- While applying the brake pedal, measure:
Inoperative Rear Stoplamp Ground Rear Lamp Ground Connector-Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit Left C414-5 CLS52 (BN) - Ground Right C417-5 CLS52 (BN) - Ground
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
- Yes: GO to 5 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- CHECK THE REAR LAMP ASSEMBLY GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- While applying the brake pedal, measure:
Inoperative Rear Stoplamp Inoperative Rear Stoplamp Rear Lamp Rear Lamp Connector-Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Connector-Pin Circuit Left C414-5 CLS52 (BN) Left C414-1 GD351 (BK/GN) Right C417-5 CLS52 (BN) Right C417-1 GD351 (BK/GN)
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
- Yes: GO to 6 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- While applying the brake pedal, measure:
- CHECK THE REAR LAMP ASSEMBLY JUMPER HARNESS
- Inspect the rear lamp jumper harness for an open.
Is the rear lamp jumper harness OK?
- Yes: INSTALL a new rear lamp assembly. REFER to Rear Lamp Assembly .
- No: REPAIR or INSTALL a new rear lamp jumper harness.
