Pinpoint Test

  1. CHECK THE DTCs  FROM THE PAM SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform PAM self-test.

    Are DTCs other than B129C:96 or B129D:96 recorded? 

    1. Yes: DIAGNOSE the other DTCs  first. REFER to DTC CHART: PARKING AID MODULE (PAM) .
    2. No: GO to .
  2. CHECK THE ACTIVE PARK ASSIST SENSOR OPERATION
    NOTE: Make sure the area around the vehicle is clear of anything that can activate the active park assist sensors.
    1. Clean the bumper and sensors with high-pressure water.
    2. Carry out the azimuth system check. REFER to Azimuth System Check .
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. Press the active park assist switch.
    5. Monitor and record the PAM distance PIDs  while moving a test object into and out of the azimuth field at each of the sensors.
      PID Description
      FSL_DIST_ER Left active park assist sensor distance
      FSR_DIST_ER Right active park assist sensor distance

    Does the active park assist sensor detect the correct PID distance according to the general specifications? 

    1. Yes: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a dirty or blocked active park assist sensor.
    2. No: GO to .
  3. INSTALL A KNOWN GOOD SENSOR
    1. Install a known good sensor for the suspect active park assist sensor.
    2. Ignition ON.
    3. Run on-demand self-test (required to clear certain DTCs  ). Correct any unresolved DTCs  . Clear all DTCs  .

    Is the concern still present? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: INSTALL a new active park assist sensor. REFER to Active Park Assist Sensor .
  4. CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION
    1. Disconnect and inspect the PAM connector.
    2. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    3. Reconnect the PAM connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
    4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    1. Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to PARKING AID MODULE (PAM) .
    2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
