Pinpoint Test N
- VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
- Yes: GO to 2 .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform a network test.
Does the BCM pass the network test?
- Yes: GO to 3 .
- No: Refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK .
- PERFORM THE BCM SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.
Are any DTCs recorded?
- Yes: Refer to MULTIFUNCTION ELECTRONIC MODULES .
- No: GO to 4 .
- RECHECK THE PAM DTCs
- Using a scan tool, clear the PAM DTCs.
- Operate the system and test for normal operation.
- Using a scan tool, check the PAM DTCs.
Is DTC U0140:00 still present?
- Yes: GO to 5 .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- CHECK FOR DTC U0140 OR DTC U0140:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
- Using a scan tool, clear all DTCs.
- Ignition OFF.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform a self-test.
- Retrieve the DTCs from all modules.
Is DTC U0140 or DTC U0140:00 present in any other modules?
- Yes: INSTALL a new BCM . Refer to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) , or BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .
- No: GO to 6 .
- CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM OPERATION
- Disconnect and inspect the PAM connector.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the PAM connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
- Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new PAM. REFER to Parking Aid Module (PAM) .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
