Pinpoint Test

  1. VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Verify that there is an observable symptom present.

    Is an observable symptom present? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  2. CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, perform the network test.

    Does the BCM pass the network test? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REFER to Diagnostic Routine I : The Body Control Module (BCM) Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.
  3. RECHECK THE TPM MODULE DTCs  .
    1. Using a scan tool, clear the TPM module DTCs  .
    2. Ignition OFF.
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. Wait at least 10 seconds.
    5. Repeat the TPM module self-test.

    Is DTC U0140:87 present? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
  4. CHECK FOR DTC U0140:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES.
    1. Clear continuous DTCs  from all modules.
    2. Ignition OFF.
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. Wait 10 seconds.
    5. Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs  from all modules.

    Is DTC U0140:00 set in the ABS module or the APIM? 

    1. Yes: INSTALL a new BCM. REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) , or REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA)
    2. No: INSTALL a new TPM module. REFER to Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) Module .
