Pinpoint Test
- CHECK FOR HVAC MODULE DTCs
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform a HVAC module self-test.
Are DTCs C1B14:11 or C1B14:12 present?
- Yes: REFER to Diagnostic Routine C: C1B14:11, C1B14:12 .
- No: GO to 2 .
- CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE IN-VEHICLE TEMPERATURE SENSOR/HUMIDITY SENSOR
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: In-Vehicle Temperature/Humidity Sensor.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
In-Vehicle Temperature/Humidity Sensor Ground C233 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 LH111 (BN/WH) - Ground
Is the voltage between 4.7 and 5 volts?
- Yes: For DTC B1A69:11, GO to 3
.
For DTC B1A69:15, GO to 4.
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- CHECK THE HUMIDITY SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: HVAC Module C228A
- Measure:
In-Vehicle Temperature/Humidity Sensor Ground C233 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 4 VH413 (WH/BU) - Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 6.
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- CHECK THE HUMIDITY SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN CIRCUIT
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: HVAC Module C228B.
- Measure:
In-Vehicle Temperature/Humidity Sensor HVAC Module C233 C228B Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 4 VH413 (WH/BU) 18 VH413 (WH/BU)
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 5 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- CHECK THE HUMIDITY SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO POWER
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
In-Vehicle Temperature/Humidity Sensor Ground C233 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 4 VH413 (WH/BU) - Ground
Is any voltage present?
- Yes: REPAIR the circuit.
- No: GO to 6 .
- ISOLATE THE IN-VEHICLE TEMPERATURE SENSOR/HUMIDITY SENSOR
- Ignition OFF.
- Connect: HVAC Module C228A.
- Connect: HVAC Module C228B.
- Install a new in-vehicle temperature sensor/humidity sensor. REFER to In-Vehicle Temperature Sensor .
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform a HVAC module self-test.
Does the DTC return?
- Yes: GO to 7 .
- No: The cause of the concern was an inoperative in-vehicle temperature sensor/humidity sensor.
- CHECK FOR CORRECT HVAC MODULE OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all HVAC module connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the HVAC module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
- Yes: CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new HVAC module. REFER to Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC) Module .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
