Pinpoint Test
- CHECK THE PCM OUTPUT VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: A/C Pressure Transducer.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
A/C Pressure Transducer Ground C1260 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 3 LE424 (YE/GN) - Ground
Is the voltage between 4.7 and 5.1 volts?
- Yes: GO to 4.
- No: If the voltage is below 4.7 volts, GO to 2
.
If the voltage is greater than 5.1 volts, REPAIR the circuit.
- CHECK THE REFERENCE VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: PCM C175B (3.5L) or C1381B (2.0L).
- Disconnect: Generator Current Sensor.
- Measure:
A/C Pressure Transducer Ground C1260 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 3 LE424 (YE/GN) - Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 3 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- CHECK THE REFERENCE VOLTAGE CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- 3.5L engine, measure:
A/C Pressure Transducer PCM C1260 C175B Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 3 LE424 (YE/GN) 52 LE424 (YE/GN) - 2.0L engine, measure:
A/C Pressure Transducer PCM C1260 C1381B Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 3 LE424 (YE/GN) 31 LE424 (YE/GN)
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 12.
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- 3.5L engine, measure:
- CHECK THE PCM SENSOR GROUND
- Measure:
A/C Pressure Transducer A/C Pressure Transducer C1260 C1260 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 1 LE424 (YE/GN) 3 RE407 (YE/VT)
Is the voltage greater than 4.7 volts?
- Yes: If diagnosing DTC P0532, GO to 5
.
If diagnosing DTC P0533, GO to 9.
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- Measure:
- CHECK THE A/C
PRESSURE SENSOR (ACP_V) PCM PID WITH THE A/C
PRESSURE TRANSDUCER SHORTED
- Ignition OFF.
- Connect a fused jumper wire:
A/C Pressure Transducer A/C Pressure Transducer C1260 C1260 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 3 LE424 (YE/GN) 2 VH433 (VT/OG) - Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, view PCM PIDs .
- Monitor the PCM PID ACP_V.
Does the PID voltage read between 4.7 and 5.1 volts?
- Yes: REMOVE the jumper wire.
INSTALL a new A/C pressure transducer.
- No: REMOVE the jumper wire.
GO to 6 .
- CHECK THE A/C
PRESSURE TRANSDUCER FEEDBACK CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO THE SIGNAL RETURN CIRCUIT
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: PCM C175B (3.5L) or C1381B (2.0L).
- Measure:
A/C Pressure Transducer A/C Pressure Transducer C1260 C1260 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 VH433 (VT/OG) 1 RE407 (YE/VT)
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 7 .
- No: REPAIR the circuits.
- CHECK THE A/C
PRESSURE TRANSDUCER FEEDBACK CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
- 3.5L engine, measure:
A/C Pressure Transducer PCM C1260 C175B Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 VH433 (VT/OG) 31 VH433 (VT/OG) - 2.0L engine, measure:
A/C Pressure Transducer PCM C1260 C1381B Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 VH433 (VT/OG) 51 VH433 (VT/OG)
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 8 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- 3.5L engine, measure:
- CHECK THE A/C
PRESSURE TRANSDUCER FEEDBACK CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure:
A/C Pressure Transducer Ground C1260 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 VH433 (VT/OG) - Ground
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 12.
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- Measure:
- CHECK THE A/C
PRESSURE TRANSDUCER
- Using a scan tool, view PCM PIDs .
- Monitor the PCM PID ACP_V.
Does the PID voltage read 0 volts?
- Yes: INSTALL a new A/C pressure transducer.
- No: GO to 10 .
- CHECK THE A/C
PRESSURE TRANSDUCER FEEDBACK CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: PCM C175B (3.5L) or C1381B (2.0L).
- Ignition ON.
- Measure:
A/C Pressure Transducer Ground C1260 Ground Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 VH433 (VT/OG) - Ground
Is any voltage present?
- Yes: REPAIR the circuit.
- No: GO to 11 .
- CHECK THE A/C
PRESSURE TRANSDUCER FEEDBACK CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO THE REFERENCE VOLTAGE CIRCUIT
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure:
A/C Pressure Transducer A/C Pressure Transducer C1260 C1260 Pin Circuit Measurement / Action Pin Circuit 2 VH433 (VT/OG) 3 LE424 (YE/GN)
Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes: GO to 12 .
- No: REPAIR the circuit.
- CHECK FOR CORRECT PCM OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all PCM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the PCM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
- Yes: CHECK OASIS
for any applicable TSBs
. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs
address this concern, INSTALL a new PCM:
REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - 2.0L GTDI , or
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
