Removal and Installation

- Disconnect the batteries. For additional information, refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT - DUAL .
- Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to INTAKE AIR DISTRIBUTION & FILTERING .
- Disconnect the vehicle harness connectors.
- Remove the nut(s) and position the generator B+ terminal(s) aside.
- To install, tighten to 17 Nm (150 lb-in).
- Disconnect the generator(s) electrical connector(s).

NOTE: It may be necessary to position the RH splash shield aside to access the battery ground cable bolt.
Remove the battery ground cable-to-frame bolt and position the battery ground cable aside.
- To install, tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
- Remove the battery ground cable-to-frame bracket bolt.
- To install, tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
- Remove the 2 nuts from the positive battery cable-to-engine harness retainer.
- Remove the bolt from the battery ground cable-to-engine block.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Remove the starter solenoid terminal cover.
- Remove the nut and position the starter solenoid positive cable terminal aside.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
- Remove the nut and position the starter solenoid wire terminal aside.
- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
- Disconnect the 2 engine harness connectors from the oil filter adapter.
- Remove the positive battery cable-to-engine bracket nut and remove the bracket from the stud.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
- Remove the pressure line bracket-to-battery cable shield bolt.
- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
- Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts from the secondary battery harness retainer.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
- Remove the secondary ground cable-to-engine terminal bolt.
- To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Release the battery cable locator pins and remove the cables.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
