PINPOINT TEST N: DTCs B103B AND B1111

NOTE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) from the Flex Probe Kit when taking measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
  1. N1 CHECK THE TED CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    NOTE: If a seat equipped with a seat mounted side air bag is being serviced, the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) must be depowered. Refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
    NOTE: The air bag warning lamp illuminates when the Restraints Control Module (RCM) fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate an SRS fault.
    NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
    • Ignition OFF.
    • WARNING: Make sure no one is in the vehicle and there is nothing blocking or placed in front of any airbag when the battery is connected. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury in the event of an accidental deployment.

      For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, carry out the following:

      • Depower the SRS. Refer to Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering in the General Procedures portion of SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
      • Disconnect the driver seat side air bag module C3051.
      • Disconnect the passenger seat side air bag module C339.
      • Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
    • Disconnect: DCSM C3265A.
    • Measure the resistance between DCSM C3265A, harness side and ground using the following chart:
      DCSM Connector Circuit
      C3265A-G CHS02 (YE/BU)
      C3265A-H RHS02 (BU/OG)
      C3265A-J CHS01 (GY/VT)
      C3265A-K RHS01 (WH/VT)

    • Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to N2.
    • No  : If the resistance of C3265A-G, circuit CHS02 (YE/BU) and/or C3265A-H, circuit RHS02 (BU/OG) is not  greater than 10, 000 ohms to ground, GO to  N6.

      If the resistance of C3265A-J, circuit CHS01 (GY/VT) and/or C3265A-K, circuit RHS01 (WH/VT) is not  greater than 10, 000 ohms to ground, GO to  N7.

  2. N2 CHECK THE TED CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure the voltage between DCSM C3265A, harness side and ground using the following chart:
      DCSM Connector Circuit
      C3265A-G CHS02 (YE/BU)
      C3265A-H RHS02 (BU/OG)
      C3265A-J CHS01 (GY/VT)
      C3265A-K RHS01 (WH/VT)

    • Is any voltage present on any circuits? 
    • Yes  : If voltage is present at C3265A-G and/or C3265A-H, GO to  N8.

      If voltage is present at C3265A-J and/or C3265A-K, GO to  N9.

    • No  : GO to N3.
  3. N3 CHECK THE TED AND WIRING RESISTANCE 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Measure the resistance between:
      • DCSM C3265A-G, circuit CHS02 (YE/BU), harness side and DCSM C3265A-H, circuit RHS02 (BU/OG), harness side.
      • DCSM C3265A-J, circuit CHS01 (GY/VT), harness side and C3265A-K, circuit RHS01 (WH/VT), harness side.

    • Are the resistances between 0.9 and 10 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to  N10.
    • No  : If the resistance is between DCSM C3265A-G and C3265A-H is not  between 0.9 and 10 ohms, GO to  N5.

      If the resistance is between DCSM C3265A-J and C3265A-K is not  between 0.9 and 10 ohms, GO to N4.

  4. N4 CHECK THE DRIVER BACKREST TED RESISTANCE 
    • Disconnect: Driver Backrest TED C3034.
    • Measure the resistance between driver backrest TED C3034 pins 1 and 3, component side.

    • Is the resistance between 0.9 and 10 ohms? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR circuit(s) CHS01 (GY/VT) and/or RHS01 (WH/VT) for an open. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

      For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat side air bag module C3051 and passenger seat side air bag module C339. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

    • No  : INSTALL a new driver backrest TED. REFER to SEAT BACKREST - FRONT, BUCKET SEAT . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

      For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat side air bag module C3051 and passenger seat side air bag module C339. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

  5. N5 CHECK THE DRIVER CUSHION TED RESISTANCE 
    • Disconnect: Driver Cushion TED C3035.
    • Measure the resistance between driver cushion TED C3035 pins 1 and 3, component side.

    • Is the resistance between 0.9 and 10 ohms? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR circuit(s) CHS02 (YE/BU) and/or RHS02 (BU/OG) for an open. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

      For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat side air bag module C3051 and passenger seat side air bag module C339. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

    • No  : INSTALL a new driver cushion TED. REFER to SEAT CUSHION - FRONT, BUCKET SEAT . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

      For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat side air bag module C3051 and passenger seat side air bag module C339. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

  6. N6 CHECK THE DRIVER CUSHION TED CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Disconnect: Driver Cushion TED C3035.
    • Measure the resistance between:
      • DCSM C3265A-G, circuit CHS02 (YE/BU), harness side and ground.
      • DCSM C3265A-H, circuit RHS02 (BU/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new driver cushion TED. REFER to SEAT CUSHION - FRONT, BUCKET SEAT . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

      For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat side air bag module C3051 and passenger seat side air bag module C339. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

    • No  : REPAIR the circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

      For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat side air bag module C3051 and passenger seat side air bag module C339. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

  7. N7 CHECK THE DRIVER BACKREST TED CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Disconnect: Driver Backrest TED C3034.
    • Measure the resistance between:
      • DCSM C3265A-J, circuit CHS01 (GY/VT), harness side and ground.
      • DCSM C3265A-K, circuit RHS01 (WH/VT), harness side and ground.

    • Are the resistances greater than 10, 000 ohms? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new driver backrest TED. REFER to SEAT BACKREST - FRONT, BUCKET SEAT . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

      For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat side air bag module C3051 and passenger seat side air bag module C339. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

    • No  : REPAIR the circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

      For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat side air bag module C3051 and passenger seat side air bag module C339. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

  8. N8 CHECK THE DRIVER CUSHION TED CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Driver Cushion TED C3035.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure the voltage between:
      • DCSM C3265A-G, circuit CHS02 (YE/BU), harness side and ground.
      • DCSM C3265A-H, circuit RHS02 (BU/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is any voltage present on either circuit? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR the circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

      For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat side air bag module C3051 and passenger seat side air bag module C339. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

    • No  : INSTALL a new driver cushion TED. REFER to SEAT CUSHION - FRONT, BUCKET SEAT . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

      For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat side air bag module C3051 and passenger seat side air bag module C339. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

  9. N9 CHECK THE DRIVER BACKREST TED CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: Driver Backrest TED C3034.
    • Ignition ON.
    • Measure the voltage between:
      • DCSM C3265A-J, circuit CHS01 (GY/VT), harness side and ground.
      • DCSM C3265A-K, circuit RHS01 (WH/VT), harness side and ground.

    • Is any voltage present on either circuit? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR the circuit(s). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

      For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat side air bag module C3051 and passenger seat side air bag module C339. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

    • No  : INSTALL a new driver backrest TED. REFER to SEAT BACKREST - FRONT, BUCKET SEAT . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

      For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat side air bag module C3051 and passenger seat side air bag module C339. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

  10. N10 CHECK FOR CORRECT DCSM OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the DCSM electrical connectors.
    • Check the harness and component side connectors for the following:
      • corrosion.
      • damaged pins.
      • pushed-out pins.
    • Connect all the DCSM electrical connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Start the engine.
    • Operate the climate controlled seats and verify system operation.
    • CLEAR all CMDTCs.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self Test - DCSM.
    • Is DTC B103B or B1111 still present? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new DCSM. REFER to DUAL CLIMATE CONTROLLED SEAT MODULE (DCSM) . CLEAR all CMDTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

      For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat side air bag module C3051 and passenger seat side air bag module C339. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .

    • No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR all CMDTCs. REPEAT the self-test.

      For vehicles equipped with seat side air bags, DISCONNECT the battery ground cable. CONNECT driver seat side air bag module C3051 and passenger seat side air bag module C339. REPOWER the SRS. REFER to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
