Removal and Installation

NOTE: Do not spill brake fluid on painted or plastic surfaces or damage to the surface may occur. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash the surface with water.

Remove the wheel and tire. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .
If equipped, remove the 2 brake tube shield nuts and the brake tube shield.
- To install, tighten the nuts to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
Remove the upper caliper anchor plate bolt and loosen the lower caliper anchor plate bolt. Pivot the brake caliper and anchor plate to gain access to the upper brake caliper bolt.
- To install, tighten to 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) using a butterfly socket torque adaptor (such as Snap On® stock #SBS30).
NOTE: Do not pry in caliper sight hole to retract pistons as this can damage the pistons and boots.

NOTE: Do not allow the brake caliper to hang from the brake hose or damage to the hose can occur.

Remove the 2 brake caliper bolts and position the caliper aside.
- Support the caliper using mechanic's wire.
- To install, tighten to 62 Nm (46 lb-ft).
Remove the 2 brake pads and the 4 retraction clips.
NOTE: Protect the piston and boots when pushing the caliper piston into the caliper bore or damage to the piston and/or boots may occur.

If installing new brake pads, using a C-clamp and a worn brake pad, compress the disc brake caliper pistons into the caliper.
