Differential Case and Ring Gear - Electronic Locking Differential (ELD): Assembly

Position left differential case half (ring gear side) on the Differential Clutch Preload Gauge.

Install the ELD cam ring, wave spring and washer.

Install the ELD cam retaining ring.

Lubricate the differential side gears and the differential side gear thrust washers with long-life grease.
Lubricate the differential pinion gears, pinion gear thrust washers and the differential pinion shaft with long-life grease.
Install the left differential side gear and side gear thrust washer.

Install the differential pinion shaft and the differential pinion gears.

Position the right differential case half with the right side gear and thrust washer.

With the index marks aligned, apply threadlock to the 9 differential case bolts.

NOTE: Use the Drive Pinion Flange Holding Fixture as shown below to keep the differential case from turning.

Install the 9 differential case bolts.
- Tighten to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft) and then an additional 90 degrees.

Install the 12 new differential ring gear bolts.
- Tighten to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft) and then an additional 60 degrees.

Install the ELD field coil. For additional information, refer to ELECTRONIC LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL (ELD) FIELD COIL .
Install the differential carrier bearings. For additional information, refer to DIFFERENTIAL BEARINGS .
Install the differential carrier. For additional information, refer to DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER .
