Inspection and Verification

  1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical system concerns.
    VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

    Mechanical Electrical
    • Front axle assembly
    • Manual hublocks
    • Shift lever and/or linkage
    • Driveshaft and U-joints
    • Fluid leaks
    • Matching tire size
    • Transfer case
    • Wiring, terminals or connectors
    • Mode Indication Switch (MIS)
  2. Carry out the MANUAL SHIFT-ON-STOP (MSOS) FUNCTIONAL TEST . GO to PINPOINT TEST F .
  3. If the concern is still present after the Manual Shift-On-Stop (MSOS) Functional Test, GO to SYMPTOM CHART - MECHANICAL SHIFT  or GO to SYMPTOM CHART - NVH .
