PINPOINT TEST F: DTCs B1355 AND B1359

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2013 Ford F-550 Super Duty, 2013 Ford F-450 Super Duty, 2013 Ford F-350 Super Duty, and 2013 Ford F-250 Super Duty. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.
  1. F1 CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Carry out the IGNITION SWITCH Component Test. Refer to appropriate "OEM Wiring Diagrams Component Testing" article for component testing.
    • Is the ignition switch OK? 
    • Yes  : For DTC B1355, GO to F2.

      For DTC B1359, GO to  F4.

    • No  : INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Ignition Switch . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. F2 CHECK THE CDIM RUN/ACC INPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250.
    • Disconnect: CDIM C2500.
    • Measure the resistance between ignition switch C250-6, circuit CDC33 (VT/GN), harness side and CDIM C2500-1, circuit CDC33 (VT/GN), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to F3.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit CDC33 (VT/GN). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. F3 CHECK THE CDIM RUN/ACC INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Disconnect: BCM C2280A.
    • Measure the resistance between ignition switch C250-6, circuit CDC33 (VT/GN), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to  F6.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit CDC33 (VT/GN). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. F4 CHECK THE CDIM RUN/ACC OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: CDIM C2500.
    • Disconnect: BCM C2280B.
    • Measure the resistance between CDIM C2500-8, circuit CDC63 (YE/OG), harness side and BCM C2280B-35, circuit CDC32 (BN/YE), harness side.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to F5.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit CDC63 (YE/OG). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. F5 CHECK THE CDIM RUN/ACC OUTPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Measure the resistance between CDIM C2500-8, circuit CDC63 (YE/OG), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to F6.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit CDC63 (YE/OG). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
  6. F6 CHECK THE CDIM CONNECTOR 
    • Check the CDIM connector for:
      • corrosion
      • damaged pins
      • pushed-out pins
    • Repair any identified concerns.
    • Connect the ignition switch connector and make sure it seats correctly.
    • Clear the DTCs.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: CDIM Self-Test.
    • Is DTC B1355 or B1359 still present? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new CDIM. REFER to Circuit Deactivation Ignition Module (CDIM) . TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a poor or intermittent connection.
