Wheel Hub: Removal

All vehicles
- Remove the wheel and tire. For additional information, refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .
- Remove the brake caliper anchor plate. For additional information, refer to REAR DISC BRAKE .
- Remove the axle shaft. For additional information, refer to AXLE SHAFT .
F-350

NOTE: Make sure that the drive tangs on the Wheel Hub Nut Socket engage the 4 slots of the hub nut.
Using the Wheel Hub Nut Socket, remove the hub nut.
F-450 and F-550
- Using a suitable socket, remove the hub nut.
All vehicles
- Remove the outer rear wheel bearing.
- Remove the rear hub and brake disc assembly.
- Remove the 8 bolts and separate the rear hub from the rear brake disc.
- Inspect the rear hub for the following:
- Cracks and damage around the bolt holes.
- Oversized holes.
