Removal and Installation

NOTE: Suspension fasteners are critical parts because they affect performance of vital components and systems and their failure can result in major service expense. They must be replaced with the same part number or an equivalent part if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of these parts.

NOTE: Use the hex-holding feature to prevent the ball stud from turning while removing or installing the stabilizer link nut.

Using a suitable jack equipped with safety chains, support the front axle.
Remove the track bar. For additional information, refer to TRACK BAR .
Remove the springs. For additional information, refer to TRACK BAR .
Remove the wheel knuckles. For additional information, refer to WHEEL KNUCKLE - F-450, F-550 .
Remove and discard the stabilizer bar link upper nuts.
- To install, tighten the new nut to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).
NOTE: Tighten the radius arm front nuts with the suspension at curb height or damage to the bushings may occur.

Remove and discard the radius arm front nuts and bolts.
- To install, tighten the new nuts to 300 Nm (222 lb-ft).
Remove the axle assembly.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
