SYMPTOM DESCRIPTION - SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS)

Condition Possible Sources Actions
A module does not respond to the scan tool
  • Fuse
  • Scan tool
  • DLC 
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • Module
REFER to COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK , Symptom Chart: Communication Network.
An audible tone sounds within 60 seconds of ignition ON
  • Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) fault or airbag warning indicator fault
CARRY OUT the RCM  and IPC  self-tests. For RCM DTC  s, REFER to the RCM DTC CHART  in this information. For IPC DTCs,  REFER to INSTRUMENTATION, MESSAGE CENTER AND WARNING CHIMES .
The airbag indicator is flashing
  • Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) fault
CARRY OUT the RCM  and OCSM  self-tests. REFER to the appropriate DTC CHART  in this information.
The airbag warning indicator is illuminated continuously
  • Fuse
  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • IPC 
  • RCM  or OCSM 
  • CARRY OUT the RCM  and OCSM  self-tests. REFER to the appropriate DTC CHART  in this information to diagnose any DTCs  that are retrieved.
  • If no DTCs  were retrieved from the RCM  or OCSM, REFER to PINPOINT TEST R .
  • If the RCM  does not respond to the scan tool, REFER to PINPOINT TEST C .
  • If the OCSM  does not respond to the scan tool, REFER to PINPOINT TEST E .
