DTC P1116: Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor Out Of Self-Test Range

DTC P1116: ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR OUT OF SELF-TEST RANGE

Description:  Indicates the ECT sensor is out of self-test range. The correct range is 0.3 to 3.7 volts.
Possible Causes: 
  • Overheating condition
  • Damaged thermostat
  • Damaged ECT sensor
  • Low engine coolant
  • Damaged ECT harness connector
Diagnostic Aids:  The engine coolant temperature must be greater than 10°C (50°F) to pass the key ON engine OFF (KOEO) self-test and greater than 82°C (180°F) to pass the key ON engine running (KOER) self-test.
Application  Key On Engine Off  Key On Engine Running  Continuous Memory 
All GO to PINPOINT TEST DX .
