Output Shaft Seal - Flange Yoke, 4WD: Removal

Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) vehicles
- Remove the transfer case. For additional information, refer to

Rear Wheel Drive (RWD) vehicles

NOTE: It may be necessary to tap the driveshaft yoke with a plastic or rubber soft-faced hammer if a pry area is not present on the driveshaft side.
Index mark the rear driveshaft. Remove and discard the 4 bolts and position the rear driveshaft aside.
- Support the driveshaft using mechanics wire.
- Remove the bolt and remove the driveshaft flange.
All vehicles

NOTE: The output shaft nut is coated with Loctite®. Failure to loosen the Loctite® by not applying heat to the output shaft nut can cause damage to the Output Shaft Nut Socket.
Apply heat to the output shaft nut to soften the Loctite®. Using the Output Shaft Nut Socket, remove the output shaft nut.
- Using the Torque Converter Fluid Seal Remover and the Slide Hammer, remove the output shaft seal.
