Extension Housing Gasket: Installation

  1. Install a new rear bushing fluid feed seal.

  2. Install a new O-ring seal on the extension housing and lubricate it with clean transmission fluid.

  3. Install the extension housing and the 8 bolts.
    • Tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).

  4. Install the transmission support insulator. For additional information, refer to TRANSMISSION SUPPORT INSULATOR .
  5. Install the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to DRIVESHAFT .
  6. Start the engine. Move the selector lever through all gear ranges while checking for engagements to allow the main control hydraulic circuits to fill with transmission fluid.
  7. NOTE: The use of any transmission fluid other than specified may result in the transmission failing to operate in a normal manner or transmission failure.

    Using the scan tool with the engine running, check and make sure the transmission is at normal operating temperature 82-93°C (180-200°F). Check and adjust the transmission fluid level and check for any leaks. If transmission fluid is needed, add transmission fluid in increments of 0.24L (0.5 pt) until the correct level is achieved.
