Pinpoint Test F: Transmission Control Solenoids

NOTE:
Read and record all DTCs.
- F1 CHECK THE SOLENOID POWER CIRCUITS FOR VOLTAGE
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Transmission C1623.
- Inspect the connector for damaged or pushed out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage from the transmission vehicle harness C1623-1 circuit CET25 (BU/GN) and C1623-2 circuit CET49 (BN) harness side to ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts on both circuits?
- Yes : GO to F4.
- No : GO to F2.
- F2 CHECK THE SOLENOID POWER CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: TCM C1750.
- Inspect the connector for damaged or pushed out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and mission or damaged seals.
- Measure the resistance from the TCM C1750-2 to transmission vehicle harness C1623-1 circuit CET25 (BU/GN) and from TCM C1750-32 to transmission vehicle harness C1623-2 circuit CET49 (BN).
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms on both circuits?
- Yes : GO to F3.
- No : REPAIR transmission vehicle harness circuit which measured greater than 5 ohms. CLEAR the DTC's. TEST the system for normal operation. If DTC P0657 or DTC P2669 returns, REPLACE the PCM.
- F3 CHECK THE SOLENOID POWER CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance from the TCM C1750-2 circuit CET25 (BU/GN) and C1750-32 circuit CET49 (BN) to ground.
- Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms on both circuits?
- Yes : GO to F4.
- No : REPAIR transmission vehicle harness circuit which measured less than 10, 000 ohms. CLEAR the DTC's. TEST the system for normal operation. If DTC P0657 or DTC P2669 returns, REPLACE the PCM.
- F4 CHECK THE SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: TCM C1750.
- Inspect the connector for damaged or pushed out terminals, corrosion, loose wires and missing or damaged seals.
- Measure the resistance of the solenoid circuit between the TCM C1750 and transmission vehicle harness C1623 using the following chart.
Transmission Control Circuit TCM C1623-3 Shift Solenoid A (SSA) CET05 (BU/GN) C1750-42 C1623-4 Shift Solenoid B (SSB) CET06 (GN/BN) C1750-7 C1623-5 Shift Solenoid C (SSC) CET07 (GY/OG) C1750-6 C1623-6 Shift Solenoid D (SSD) CET08 (BN/WH) C1750-43 C1623-7 Shift Solenoid E (SSE) CET09 (YE/VT) C1750-4 C1623-8 Pressure Control Solenoid A (PCA) CET49 (BN) C1750-3 C1623-9 Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) CET50 (WH/OG) C1750-44 - Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : GO to F5.
- No : REPAIR the transmission vehicle harness circuit which measured greater than 5 ohms. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- F5 CHECK THE SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between the TCM C1750, harness side and ground using the following chart.
TCM Control Circuit Ground C1750-42 SSA CET05 (BU/GN) Ground C1750-7 SSB CET06 (GN/BN) Ground C1750-6 SSC CET07 (GY/OG) Ground C1750-43 SSD CET08 (BN/WH) Ground C1750-4 SSE CET09 (YE/VT) Ground C1750-3 PCA CET49 (BN) Ground C1750-44 TCC CET50 (WH/OG) Ground - Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes : GO to F6.
- No : REPAIR the transmission vehicle harness circuit which measured less than 10, 000 ohms. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- Measure the resistance between the TCM C1750, harness side and ground using the following chart.
- F6 CHECK THE SOLENOID CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO POWER
- Connect: TCM C1750.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure for voltage between the transmission vehicle harness C1623, harness side and ground using the following chart.
Transmission Control Circuit Ground C1623-3 SSA CET05 (BU/GN) Ground C1623-4 SSB CET06 (GN/BN) Ground C1623-5 SSC CET07 (GY/OG) Ground C1623-6 SSD CET08 (BN/WH) Ground C1623-7 SSE CET09 (YE/VT) Ground C1623-8 PCA CET49 (BN) Ground C1623-9 TCC CET50 (WH/OG) Ground - Is the voltage greater than 3 volts?
- Yes : REPAIR the transmission vehicle harness circuit shorted to power. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : GO to F7.
- F7 CHECK TRANSMISSION INTERNAL HARNESS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between the transmission C1623, component side and ground using the following chart.
Transmission Solenoid Ground C1623-1 Solenoid power 1 Ground C1623-2 Solenoid power 2 Ground C1623-3 SSA Ground C1623-4 SSB Ground C1623-5 SSC Ground C1623-6 SSD Ground C1623-7 SSE Ground C1623-8 PCA Ground C1623-9 TCC Ground - Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
- Yes : GO to F8.
- No : REPLACE the transmission internal harness. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- Measure the resistance between the transmission C1623, component side and ground using the following chart.
- F8 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION INTERNAL HARNESS/COMPONENT RESISTANCE FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between the transmission C1623, component side power circuit terminal and control circuit terminal using the following chart.
Transmission Solenoid Transmission C1623-2 SSA C1623-3 C1623-2 SSC C1623-5 C1623-2 SSE C1623-7 C1623-1 PCA C1623-8 C1623-1 TCC C1623-9 C1623-1 SSB C1623-4 C1623-1 SSD C1623-6 - Is the resistance measurement between 4.8 and 5.4 ohms?
- Yes
: Refer to MAIN CONTROL - OVERHAUL to INSPECT for stuck valves or debris.
If no problems are found, REPLACE suspected solenoid.
CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- No : INSPECT the transmission internal harness for an open. If no open is found, REPLACE the faulty component. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
- Measure the resistance between the transmission C1623, component side power circuit terminal and control circuit terminal using the following chart.
