Brake Master Cylinder: Installation

WARNING:
Do not use any fluid other than clean brake fluid meeting manufacturer's specification. Additionally, do not use brake fluid that has been previously drained. Following these instructions will help prevent system contamination, brake component damage and the risk of serious personal injury.

NOTE:
Do not spill brake fluid on painted or plastic surfaces or damage to the surface may occur. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash the surface with water.

NOTE: Make sure that the master cylinder-to-booster seal is installed with the master cylinder.
Install the brake master cylinder and the 2 new brake master cylinder nuts.
- Tighten to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).

NOTE: The brake tubes must be installed in the same position and orientation as removed.
Connect the brake tubes to the master cylinder.
- Tighten to 22 Nm (16 lb-ft).
- Connect the brake fluid level indicator switch electrical connector and attach the wire harness.
- Install the ACL outlet pipe. REFER to INTAKE AIR SYSTEM COMPONENTS - EXPLODED VIEW .
- Install the battery. REFER to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- If a new brake master cylinder has been installed, bleed the master cylinder. Refer to COMPONENT BLEEDING in BRAKE SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION.
- If the brake master cylinder was removed to access other components, bleed the brake system. Refer to BRAKE SYSTEM BLEEDING in BRAKE SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION.
