Pinpoint Test E: Pressure Control Solenoid (Pc-A) (Line Pressure) Solenoid

NOTE: This test should only be used if DTCs P0748, P0960, P0962 or P0963 are present.
NOTE: Read and record all DTCs.
NOTE: Refer to the TRANSMISSION VEHICLE HARNESS CONNECTOR  illustration within the Transmission Connector Layouts procedure.
NOTE: Refer to the TRANSMISSION INTERNAL HARNESS CONNECTOR  illustration within the Transmission Connector Layouts procedure.
  1. E1 CHECK TRANSMISSION VEHICLE HARNESS FOR CONTINUITY 
    • Ignition OFF.
    • Disconnect: PCM C175T.
    • Disconnect: Transmission Vehicle Harness C1385.
    • Check to make sure the transmission vehicle harness C1385 is fully seated, terminals are fully engaged in the connector and are in good condition before proceeding.
    • Measure the resistance between PCM C175T and C1385 using the following chart.
      Transmission Connector Circuit PCM
      C1385-10 CET50 (WH/OG) C175T-42
      C1385-7 CET25 (BU/GN) C175T-50

    • Is resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to E2.
    • No  : REPAIR the circuit that is open. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
  2. E2 CHECK TRANSMISSION VEHICLE HARNESS FOR SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Measure the resistance between PCM C175T, harness side and ground using the following chart.
      PCM Circuit Ground
      C175T-42 CET50 (WH/OG) Ground
      C175T-50 CET25 (BU/GN) Ground

    • Is resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to E3.
    • No  : REPAIR the shorted circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. E3 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION INTERNAL HARNESS FOR AN OPEN 
    • Drain the transmission fluid.
    • Remove the transmission fluid pan.
    • Disconnect: Pressure Control Solenoid A (PCA).
    • Measure the resistance between transmission internal harness C1385 and the PCA solenoid using the following chart.
      Transmission Connector Circuit PCA Solenoid
      C1385-10 Signal 2
      C1385-7 Power 1

    • Is resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to E4.
    • No  : INSTALL a new transmission harness. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. E4 CHECK THE TRANSMISSION INTERNAL HARNESS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Measure the resistance between transmission internal harness C1385, component side and ground using the following chart.
      Transmission Connector Circuit Ground
      C1385-10 Signal Ground
      C1385-7 Ignition voltage Ground

    • Is resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to E5.
    • No  : INSTALL a new transmission harness. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. E5 CHECK THE PCA RESISTANCE 
    • Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 at the PCA.

    • Is resistance between 4.88-5.48 ohms? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new PCM.
    • No  : INSTALL a new PCA. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
