Valve Cover - LH: Removal

  1. Remove the crankcase vent oil separator. For additional information, refer to ENGINE EMISSION CONTROL .
  2. Remove the LH fuel injectors, fuel rail supply tube and LH fuel rail. For additional information, refer to FUEL CHARGING AND CONTROLS - 6.7L DIESEL .
  3. Remove the LH glow plugs. For additional information, refer to GLOW PLUG SYSTEM - 6.7L DIESEL .
  4. NOTE: Only 1 retainer shown.

    Disconnect the 2 wire retainers for the fuel injection harness.

  5. Disconnect the 2 wire retainers from the valve cover stud bolts.

  6. Disconnect the wire retainer from the rear valve cover stud bolt.

  7. NOTE: It will be necessary to position aside the oil level indicator tube in order to remove the valve cover.
    NOTE: Mark the location of the fasteners prior to removing the valve cover.

    Remove the 15 bolts, 3 stud bolts and the LH valve cover.

    • Remove and discard the valve cover gasket.
  8. NOTE: Use the notch in the valve cover to aid in removing the fuel injector-to-valve cover seal.

    Remove the fuel injector-to-valve cover seal out of the valve cover using a screw driver.
