Crankshaft Rear Seal: Removal

- Remove the flexplate. For additional information, refer to FLEXPLATE .

NOTE: Do not use magnetic screwdrivers or other magnetic tools around the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor and the crankshaft sensor pulse ring or damage to the components may occur.
Remove the crankshaft sensor pulse ring.
- Remove the cylinder block opening cover.

NOTE: Crankshaft Position (CKP) electrical connector removed for clarity.
Loosen the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor bolt 2 to 3 full turns.
- Position the CKP back against the bolt.
- Verify that the CKP sensor is not protruding into the rear crankshaft seal area.

NOTE: Do not scratch or damage the crankshaft during removal or installation of the rear crankshaft seal.
Using the Rear Crank Seal Remover, remove and discard the rear crankshaft seal.
- Clean and inspect the crankshaft sealing surface.
