Camshaft Lobe Lift

  1. NOTE: Typical camshaft shown.

    To check the intake and exhaust lobes, measure across diagonally (A-C) and across horizontally (B-D). Subtract (B-D) from (A-C). This will give cam lobe lift. Install a new camshaft when cam lobe lift wear exceeds specifications. For additional information, refer to SPECIFICATIONS .

  2. Inspect the thrust plate for wear, cracks or distortion.
  3. Inspect the camshaft drive gear for worn or damaged teeth.
  4. Wash the camshaft in cleaning solvent with a soft brush. Dry with filtered, compressed air.
