Cylinder Head: Disassembly

- Install the Valve Spring Compressors on the cylinder head.

NOTE: It will be necessary to adjust the Valve Spring Compressor as needed to get proper alignment with the valves.NOTE: Position the cylinder head on 2 pieces of wood to aid on removing the valves.
Using the Valve Spring Compressor, compress the valve spring and remove the valve stem keys.
- Remove the valve spring retainer and valve spring.

NOTE: It may be necessary to file the tip of the valve to aid in removal of the valve from the cylinder head.
Remove the intake valve(s).
- Remove and discard the valve seal assembly.
- Clean and inspect the intake valves, valve guides and valve seats. Replace components that are damaged or out of specification. For additional information, refer to SPECIFICATIONS .

NOTE: It may be necessary to file the tip of the valve to aid in removal of the valve from the cylinder head.
Remove the exhaust valve(s).
- Remove and discard the valve seal assembly.
- Inspect the exhaust valves, valve guides and valve seats. Replace components that are damaged or out of specification. For additional information, refer to SPECIFICATIONS .

NOTE: Do not use Brake clean and/or other solvents during the cleaning process, damage to the valve guide may occur.
Using a 1/4 inch brass bore brush (obtain locally) lightly coated with clean automatic transmission fluid, clean the exhaust valve guides.
