Removal and Installation

  1. Remove the camshafts. For additional information, refer to CAMSHAFT - RH  or CAMSHAFT - LH .
  2. Remove the remaining roller followers from the cylinder head being serviced.
  3. NOTE: If the components are to be reinstalled, they must be installed in their original locations, or engine damage may occur. Mark the components for installation into their original locations.

    Remove the hydraulic lash adjusters that are being serviced.

  4. Inspect the hydraulic lash adjusters. For additional information, refer to ENGINE SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION .
  5. NOTE: Lubricate each of the hydraulic lash adjusters with clean engine oil prior to installation.

    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
