TCC System

TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH

Condition Possible Sources Action
  • TCC  does not apply
  • Solenoid body filter blocked to the TCC  solenoid
  • TCC  solenoid mechanically stuck OFF
  • TCC  regulator apply valve stuck OFF
  • DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the TCC  regulator apply valve. If bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control. REFER to MAIN CONTROL - OVERHAUL .
  • TCC  control valve stuck OFF
  • DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the TCC  control valve for debris/blockage. CLEAN as necessary. REFER to MAIN CONTROL - OVERHAUL .
  • TCC APPLY hydraulic circuit blocked or leaking
  • TCC  friction material worn or damaged
  • TCC  always applied/stalls vehicle
  • TCC  solenoid mechanically stuck ON
  • TCC  regulator apply valve stuck ON
  • DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the TCC  regulator apply valve. If bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control. REFER to MAIN CONTROL - OVERHAUL .
  • TCC  control valve stuck ON
  • DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the TCC  control valve. If bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control. REFER to MAIN CONTROL - OVERHAUL .
  • TCC RELEASE hydraulic circuit blocked or leaking
  • TCC  welded or damaged
  • TCC  cycles, shudders or chatters
  • Incorrect Solenoid Body Strategy programmed into TCM 
  • Solenoid filter or seal damaged at TCC  solenoid
  • TCC  solenoid mechanically sticking
  • TCC  regulator apply valve, springs, clips - loose, stuck, binding, missing, misassembled
  • DISASSEMBLE, CLEAN and INSPECT the TCC  regulator apply valve. If bore or valve is damaged, INSTALL a new main control. REFER to MAIN CONTROL - OVERHAUL .
  • TCC  control valve, springs, clips - loose, stuck, binding, missing, misassembled
  • DISASSEMBLE and INSPECT the main control for debris/blockage. CLEAN as necessary. REFER to MAIN CONTROL - OVERHAUL .
  • TCC  RELEASE/TCC  APPLY hydraulic circuits blocked or leaking
