Exhaust Manifold - RH: Removal

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Remove the EGR tube. Refer to ENGINE EMISSION CONTROL .
  3. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM .
  4. Rotate the Supercharger (SC) drive belt tensioner clockwise and remove the drive belt from the SC drive pulley.

  5. Remove the 8 pin-type retainers and the upper radiator sight shield.

  6. Install the Engine Lifting Bracket.

  7. NOTE: The heavy duty Engine Support Bar (303-F070) must be used with the draw screws from the light duty Engine Support Bar (303-F072). This will provide enough clearance between the SC and the Engine Support Bar, and enough clearance between the draw screw and the vehicle hood.

    Install the Engine Support Bars.

    • Remove the RH engine support insulator nut.
    • Using the Engine Support Bars, raise the RH side of the engine.

  8. Remove the 3 bolts and lower the underbody shield.

  9. Remove the SC drive belt from the A/C compressor pulley.
  10. Remove the nut and disconnect the wiring harness retainers from the A/C compressor and stud bolts.

  11. NOTE: The A/C compressor stud bolts must be loosened to gain access to the RH exhaust manifold nuts.

    Loosen the A/C compressor stud bolts 25 mm (0.98 in).

  12. Remove the 8 nuts and the RH exhaust manifold.
    • Discard the nuts and gaskets.
  13. Clean and inspect the RH exhaust manifold. Refer to ENGINE SYSTEM - GENERAL INFORMATION .
  14. Remove and discard the 8 RH exhaust manifold studs.
