Removal and Installation

  1. Drain the engine cooling system. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
  2. Remove the degas bottle. Refer to DEGAS BOTTLE .
  3. Disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector.
  4. Disconnect the 2 thermostat housing-to-intake manifold hoses and position them aside.
  5. Disconnect the thermostat housing-to-lower radiator hose assembly and position it aside.
  6. If equipped, disconnect the thermostat housing-to-oil filter adapter hose and position it aside.
  7. Disconnect the thermostat housing-to-upper radiator hose and position it aside.
  8. Remove the 2 nuts and the thermostat housing.
    • To install, tighten to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
  9. NOTE: During installation, make sure all the hoses are fully seated against the stops.

    To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  10. Fill and bleed the cooling system. Refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
