Airbag Trim Cover - Passenger: Removal

WARNING: Always carry a live airbag with the deployment door, trim cover or tear seam pointed away from the body. Do not place a live airbag down with the deployment door, trim cover or tear seam facing down. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury in the event of an accidental deployment.
WARNING: Do not use any sharp tools to separate the passenger airbag trim cover from the passenger airbag canister. Sharp tools may damage the passenger airbag. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the passenger airbag deploying incorrectly and increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
WARNING: Do not unpack or unroll the passenger airbag soft pack. If the soft pack becomes unpacked or unrolled, install a new passenger airbag assembly. Failure to follow these instructions may result in the passenger airbag deploying incorrectly and increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
WARNING: Do not manipulate or compromise the passenger airbag hooks during the removal or installation procedure. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the passenger airbag deploying incorrectly and increases the risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
  1. Remove the passenger air bag module. For additional information, refer to PASSENGER AIRBAG .
  2. Place a mark on top of the passenger air bag module canister for correct installation.
  3. Carefully lift the passenger air bag module cover from the bottom of the air bag module canister, separating the windows from the canister hooks.

  4. NOTE: Place an X on the old air bag cover to avoid reinstalling.

    Remove the passenger air bag cover from the canister, separating the top windows from the canister hooks.
