Battery Cables - 3.7L

All vehicles
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Disconnect the battery. For additional information, refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT .
- Open the Battery Junction Box (BJB) cover, remove the nut and position the BJB terminal aside.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Remove the bolts and position the battery ground cable body terminals aside.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Remove the battery cable terminal nut from the terminal and position the battery cable terminal aside.
- To install, tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
- Disconnect the engine control harness connector and the PCM harness connector.
- Detach the battery cable harness locators from the RH strut tower and fender area.
- Remove the starter solenoid terminal cover.
- Remove the nut and position the starter solenoid positive cable terminal aside.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
- Remove the nut and position the starter solenoid wire terminal aside.
- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
- Remove the nut and position the battery cable harness bracket-to-engine aside.
- To install, tighten to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- Disconnect the RH and LH Catalyst Monitor Sensor (CMS) connectors.
Automatic transmission
- Disconnect the transmission vehicle harness connector
Manual transmission
- Disconnect the reverse switch connector from the transmission.
- Disconnect the Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor connector from the transmission.
All vehicles
- Detach the battery cable harness locators from the transmission.
- Remove the bolt from the rear of the RH cylinder head and position the battery ground cable-to-head terminal aside.
- To install, tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
- Position aside the generator B+ terminal cover, remove the nut and position the generator B+ terminal aside.
- To install, tighten to 17 Nm (150 lb-in).
- Disconnect the generator connector.
- Remove the nut and position the battery cable harness-to-valve cover bracket aside.
- To install, tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
- Detach the battery cable harness locator at the valve cover.
- Disconnect the A/C compressor connector.
- Detach the battery cable harness locator at the A/C compressor.
- Disconnect the Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS) connector.
- Detach the battery cable harness locators from the EPAS.
- Remove the battery cables.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
