Seat Backrest - Rear, Convertible: Disassembly

  1. Remove the rear seat backrest. For additional information, refer to SEAT BACKREST - REAR .
  2. From the rear of the backrest assembly, release the 3 backrest cover J-clips and detach the backrest cover fabric on each side from around the backrest frame mounting hooks.
  3. Remove the head restraint assemblies.
    • Push the buttons in at the top of the head restraint guide sleeves.
  4. Remove the 2 hook assemblies in the following sequence.
    1. Detach the backrest frame vertical wires from the backrest foam pad clips.
    2. Lift the bottom of the backrest frame partially out of the backrest foam pad.
    3. From between the backrest frame and foam pad, push the post out of the hook assembly until disengaged.
    4. Remove the hook assemblies.
  5. Remove the backrest frame from the backrest foam pad.
  6. NOTE: Typical backrest frame shown in illustration.

    Push the tab in on each head restraint guide sleeve to disengage the retainer, pull up and remove.

  7. NOTE: Use care when separating the backrest cover from the hook-and-loop strip. The hook-and-loop strip can be torn from the seat backrest foam.

    Disengage the hook-and-loop strips and remove the backrest cover from the backrest foam pad.

  8. To assemble, reverse the disassembly procedure.
