Gearshift Lever

- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
- Rotate the gearshift knob counterclockwise, remove the gearshift knob and position the center console finish panel aside.
- Remove the driveshaft. For additional information, refer to DRIVESHAFT .
- Remove the 4 subframe cross brace bolts and the subframe cross brace.
- To install, tighten to 48 Nm (35 lb-ft).
- Using a suitable transmission jack, support the transmission.
- Remove the crossmember. For additional information, refer to UNI-BODY, SUBFRAME AND MOUNTING SYSTEM .
- Lower the transmission.
- Remove the 2 gearshift lever nuts.
- To install, tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb-in).
- Remove the gearshift lever assembly.
- Remove the gearshift lever bolt.
- To install, tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).
- Remove the gearshift lever-to-transmission bolt.
- To install, tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
- Remove the gearshift lever assembly from the transmission by pulling towards the rear of the vehicle.
- Remove the gearshift lever bolt.
- To install, reverse the removal procedure. Before installing the center console finish panel, lightly pull up on the gearshift lever boot to fully seat the gearshift lever boot in the pan.
