DTC P0234: Turbocharger/Supercharger A OVERBOOST Condition

DTC P0234: TURBOCHARGER/SUPERCHARGER A OVERBOOST CONDITION

Description:  This DTC sets when the indicated boost pressure is greater than the desired boost pressure by greater than a calibrated threshold.
Possible Causes: 
  • The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor is out of range high
  • Wastegate control vacuum hose open or plugged
  • Damaged turbocharger wastegate regulating valve solenoid
  • Damaged wastegate adjusting rod
  • Incorrect wastegate adjustment
  • Damaged turbocharger actuator
  • Turbocharger vanes sticking
Diagnostic Aids:  The presence of this DTC may indicate that the vehicle is operating in derate mode and may experience a loss of power. After repair, the vehicle may still display a system warning message. Drive the vehicle until the system warning message has cleared from the instrument cluster message center.
Check the vacuum hoses between the turbocharger wastegate regulating valve solenoid and the turbocharger wastegate actuator for leaks and obstructions.
