Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset

Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) and Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) software with appropriate hardware, or equivalent scan tool
NOTE: This procedure applies to vehicles with and without Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS). For additional information, refer to PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION in this article.
  1. Turn the key from the OFF position to the RUN position.
  2. From the scan tool, enter TOOLBOX. Select BODY - SECURITY - PATS Functions and follow the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) onscreen instructions to ENTER SECURITY ACCESS.
  3. NOTE: If the Body Control Module (BCM) was replaced on vehicles equipped with PATS, at least two keys must be programmed to the BCM. After completing step 3, do not disconnect the scan tool and follow the Erase All Keys and Program Two Keys procedure.

    From the scan tool, select "Parameter Reset" and follow the IDS on-screen instructions.
