Catalytic Converter - LH Manifold: Removal

NOTE: Do not excessively bend, twist or allow the exhaust to hang from the flexible pipe or damage to the exhaust system may occur.
NOTE: Always install new nuts, studs and gaskets. Clean flange faces prior to new gasket installation to make sure of correct sealing.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, REFER to JACKING AND LIFTING for lifting points.
  2. Remove the engine appearance cover.
  3. Remove the LH HO2S  . REFER to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (HO2S) - 3.5L TI-VCT .
  4. Remove the 3 heat shield bolts and the heat shield.
  5. Disconnect the LH CMS electrical connector.
  6. Remove and discard the top 3 LH catalytic converter manifold-to-cylinder head nuts.
  7. Remove the exhaust Y-pipe. REFER to Exhaust Y-Pipe .
  8. Remove and discard the lower 3 LH catalytic converter manifold-to-cylinder head nuts.
    • Remove the LH catalytic converter manifold and discard the gasket.
  9. Remove and discard the 6 LH catalytic converter manifold-to-cylinder head studs.
