Pinpoint Test

  1. DETERMINE THE FAULT CONDITION
    1. Place the headlamp switch in the HIGH BEAM position.
    2. Ignition ON.
    3. Observe the high beam indicator.

    Does the high beam indicator illuminate? 

    1. Yes: For the LH / RH turn indicator, GO to  4  .
    2. No: LEAVE the headlamp switch in the HIGH BEAM position. GO to 2  .
  2. CHECK THE HIGH BEAM HEADLAMPS OPERATION
    1. Observe the high beam headlamps.

    Do the high beam headlamps operate correctly? 

    1. Yes: GO to 3  .
    2. No: REFER to SYMPTOM CHART: HEADLAMPS .
  3. CARRY OUT THE IPC INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, view the IPC PIDs  .
    3. Select the IPC high beam indicator (HIGH_BEAM) PID.
    4. Command the high beam indicator on and off. Observe the high beam indicator.

    Does the high beam indicator illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off? 

    1. Yes: GO to  8  .
    2. No: INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
  4. CHECK THE LH OR RH TURN SIGNAL LAMPS OPERATION
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Operate the LH or RH turn signal. Observe the exterior LH or RH turn signal lamps.

    Do the turn signal lamps operate correctly? 

    1. Yes: GO to 5  .
    2. No: REFER to SYMPTOM CHART: TURN SIGNAL AND HAZARD LAMPS .
  5. CARRY OUT THE IPC INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
    1. Using a scan tool, view the IPC PIDs  .
    2. Select the IPC RH or LH turn signal indicator (RH_TURN_L) or (LH_TURN_L) PID. Command the RH or LH turn signal indicator on and off. Observe the LH or RH turn signal indicator.

    Does the LH or RH turn signal indicator illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off? 

    1. Yes: GO to  8  .
    2. No: INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
  6. CHECK THE FOG LAMPS OPERATION
    1. Operate the fog lamps.

    Do the fog lamps operate correctly? 

    1. Yes: GO to 7  .
    2. No: REFER to SYMPTOM CHART: FOG LAMPS .
  7. CARRY OUT THE IPC INDICATOR LAMP CONTROL ACTIVE COMMAND USING THE SCAN TOOL
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, view the IPC PIDs  .
    3. Select the IPC high beam indicator (F_FOG_IND) PID.
    4. Command the fog lamp indicator on and off. Observe the fog lamp indicator.

    Does the fog lamp indicator illuminate when commanded on and turn off when commanded off? 

    1. Yes: GO to 8  .
    2. No: INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
  8. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs  FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    1. Yes: REFER to DTC CHART: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
    2. No: GO to 9  .
  9. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs  FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Is DTC U0140:00 recorded? 

    1. Yes: REFER to Diagnostic Routine AV: U0140:00 .
    2. No: INSTALL a new BCM:

      REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) , or

      REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .
