Pinpoint Test

  1. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs  FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    1. Yes: REFER to DTC Chart: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
    2. No: GO to 2  .
  2. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs  FROM THE PCM SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the PCM self-test.

    Are any 4WD DTCs recorded? 

    1. Yes: REFER to DTC CHART: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .

      For all other DTCs  , REFER to SECTION 3: SYMPTOM CHARTS .

    2. No: GO to 3  .
  3. CHECK THE DISPLAY MODE MENU
    1. On the optional IPC, in the display mode menu, press the LH steering wheel switch to the right to display the 4WD  gauge.
    2. On the base IPC, in the Information display mode, press the LH steering wheel switch to the right then down to display the 4WD  gauge.

    Does the 4WD gauge display? 

    1. Yes: The 4WD  gauge is operating correctly at this time. The display mode was not set to correct display mode.
    2. No: INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
