Pinpoint Test
- VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
- Ignition ON.
- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
- Yes: GO to 2 .
- No: The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
- Ignition ON.
- Using a scan tool, perform a network test.
- Carry out the network test.
Does the PSCM pass the network test?
- Yes: GO to 3 .
- No: REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE AC : The Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool.
- RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs
FROM THE PSCM SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the PSCM self-test.
Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded?
- Yes: REFER to DTC CHART: INTERACTIVE DIAGNOSTICS .
- No: GO to 4 .
- RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs
FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST
- Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded?
- Yes: For DTC U3003:16, REFER to Diagnostic Routine BD: U3003:16 .
For DTC U3003:17, REFER to Diagnostic Routine BE: U3003:17 .
- No: GO to 5 .
- RECHECK THE IPC DTCs NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration can be incorrectly set during the PMI or the PMI may not have been carried out.
- Clear the DTCs . Repeat the IPC self-test.
Is DTC U0131:00 still present?
- Yes: GO to 6 .
- No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
- CHECK FOR DTC U0131:00 SET IN OTHER MODULES
- Clear all DTCs .
- Ignition OFF.
- Ignition ON.
- Wait 10 seconds.
- Using a scan tool, perform self-test.
- Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.
Is DTC U0131:00 set in the ABS module?
- Yes: INSTALL a new PSCM (part of the steering gear). REFER to STEERING GEAR .
- No: INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
