Pinpoint Test

  1. RECHECK THE IPC DTCs 
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.
    3. Clear the DTCs  .
    4. Wait 10 seconds.
    5. Repeat the IPC self-test.

    Is DTC U3003:16 still present? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to a previous low battery voltage condition.
  2. CHECK FOR CHARGING SYSTEM DTCs  IN THE PCM
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the PCM self-test.
    2. Carry out the PCM KOEO self-test.

    Is DTC P0620, P0622, P0625, P0626 or P065B set in the PCM? 

    1. Yes: REFER to DTC CHART: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) .
    2. No: GO to .
  3. CHECK THE BATTERY CONDITION AND STATE OF CHARGE
    1. Check the battery condition and verify the battery is fully charged. REFER to DIAGNOSTIC ROUTINE A : Battery Condition Test.

    Is the battery OK and fully charged? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REFER to BATTERY CHARGING .
  4. CHECK THE IPC VOLTAGE PID (MODULE_VOLT)
    1. Ignition ON.
    2. Measure and record the voltage at the battery.
    3. Using a scan tool, view the IPC PIDs  .
    4. Select and monitor the IPC voltage PID (MODULE_VOLT).

    Is the voltage within 0.2 volt of the recorded battery voltage? 

    1. Yes: GO to  7  .
    2. No: GO to .
  5. CHECK THE IPC VOLTAGE SUPPLY
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: IPC.
    3. Ignition ON.
    4. Measure:
      IPC Ground

    Is the voltage within 0.2 volt of the recorded battery voltage? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REPAIR the circuit for high resistance. CLEAR the DTC.
  6. CHECK THE IPC GROUND CIRCUIT
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Measure:
      IPC Ground

      5 GD214 (BK/BU)

      - Ground

    Is the resistance less than 3 ohms? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REPAIR the circuit for high resistance. CLEAR the DTCs  .
  7. CHECK FOR CORRECT IPC OPERATION
    1. Disconnect and inspect the IPC connector.
    2. Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    3. Reconnect the IPC connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
    4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    1. Yes: CHECK OASIS  for any applicable TSBs  . If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs  address this concern, INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
    2. No: The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
