Pinpoint Test

1. Close all doors, hood and liftgate.
2. Ignition ON.
3. Open the driver door while monitoring the message center displays.

Does the message center display DRIVER DOOR AJAR? 

1. Yes: GO to 2  .
2. No: INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .

1. Using a scan tool, perform the PCM KOEO self-test.

Is DTC P0457 recorded? 

1. Yes: If the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message is always on, REFER to SECTION 3: SYMPTOM CHARTS .

   If the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message is inoperative, GO to 3  .

2. No: If the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message is always on, INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - 2.0L GTDI , or REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - 3.5L TI-VCT .

   If the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message is inoperative, the system is operating normally at this time. If the fuel inlet was open and the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message did not turn on, driving conditions may not have allowed for the PCM to run the cruise test and message the IPC to turn the CHECK FUEL FILL INLET message on.

1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

Are any DTCs recorded? 

1. Yes: For DTC U0100:00, REFER to Diagnostic Routine AR: U0100:00 .

   For all other DTCs  , REFER to DTC Chart: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .

2. No: INSTALL a new PCM. REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - 2.0L GTDI , or REFER to POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) - 3.5L TI-VCT .
