Pinpoint Test

  1. VERIFY THE OPERATION OF THE POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION (WRENCH) AND ENGINE OVER-TEMPERATURE MESSAGE CENTER WARNING INDICATORS
    1. Ignition OFF.
    2. Disconnect: PCM C175B (3.5L).
    3. Disconnect: PCM C175B (2.0L GTDI).
    4. Ignition ON.
    5. NOTE: If multiple warnings are present, the message center indicators rotate through each of the warnings. Allow the displays to rotate through each display while determining whether the powertrain malfunction (wrench) and over-temperature message center warning indicator is active.

      Observe the message center or integrated display area of the IPC with the PCM connected and disconnected.

    Do the powertrain malfunction (wrench) and engine over-temperature warning message center indicators remain off when the PCM is connected and become active with the PCM disconnected? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: INSTALL a new IPC. REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) .
  2. CHECK THE INTERIOR LIGHTING OPERATION
    1. Open and close each door while monitoring the interior lamps.

    Do the interior lamps operate correctly with each door? 

    1. Yes: GO to .
    2. No: REFER to SYMPTOM CHART: INTERIOR LIGHTING .
  3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs  FROM THE IPC SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Is DTC U0140:00 recorded? 

    1. Yes: REFER to Diagnostic Routine AV: U0140:00 .
    2. No: GO to .
  4. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs  FROM THE BCM SELF-TEST
    1. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM self-test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    1. Yes: REFER to DTC CHART: BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) .
    2. No: INSTALL a new BCM:

      REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITH INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) , or

      REFER to BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) - WITHOUT INTELLIGENT ACCESS (IA) .
